The high antioxidant property of Gamma oryzanol has been widely recognized. In fact, one open study showed that it was up to ten times stronger than vitamin E for salvage free radicals from the body and preventing tissue damage that produces from free radical action.

Gamma oryzanol and ferulic acid are important antioxidants within plant cells. Both substances have exerted significant antioxidant effects in experimental models.
